Brooklyn's talk

This is going to be a long post, I'll warn you. At the beginning of this year we were given an assignment from the Primary presidency to think of an ancestor or family member that we think is (or was) a great example in the gospel. Once we thought of that person, we needed to write a talk about them. Then we needed to turn this talk into one of the presidency and keep a copy for ourselves (our children) and be prepared to make a doll representing this person at an upcoming primary activity. They would also read the talks again at the primary program in October. Great idea, right?

Well, I was not excited about this assignment. Needless to say Brooklyn and I talked about who it was she wanted to write her talk on. Quite a few people came into her thoughts (I won't mention names to be fair, okay, okay- Grandma Head & Grami'mi'), but we finally decided to write her talk about Daddy. She came up with most of it and even add libbed a story in the middle of her talk. Here it is...

"My Family has responsibilities"

My Mom takes care of me and my brother and our house.

My brothers responsibility is to learn how to play nice and be kind to others.

I need to be a good example to my brother and I also make my bed and help with the dishes.

My Dad goes to work and helps provide for us. He also has another very important responsibility. He holds the priesthood. That means he can give me a blessing when I am sick or if I'm having a hard time with something.

INSERTED ADD LIB NOW:
One time when we were in Floida, I got really sick and I wasn't having a very good time. My dad gave me a blessing and I started feeling better, and could enjoy the warm weather.

I love my family and I'm thankful that my dad is a valiant priesthood holder. I hope to marry someone like him someday.

I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

We had to turn in the dolls that we made, so when we get them back in October, I will post a picture. I must say, Brian looks pretty handsome as a doll!
